Another reason for why Government Institutions and NGOs use Pure Foods Systems Ltd. is because we have a strict policy of reducing the Environmental Impact of vending machines. We are pioneers in the development of energy reduction systems for use in vending machines.

Currently we are trying out a zero carbon system, where the power for the vending machine is supplied by photovoltaic arrays. In every aspect of Pure Foods Systems Ltd we are committed to environmental sustainability.

We maintain local cliental to reduce the carbon footprint of delivering product and machines, some being located within 250 metres of our offices. Within our offices themselves we use solar panels to increase the amount of sustainable electricity used.

The EVA ( European Vending Association) EMP ( Energy Measurement Protocol) is a way of measuring the energy consumption of vending machines.

The EVA EMP measures the energy consumption of all types of vending machines in stand-by mode and in operational mode. The energy consumption of refrigerated machines is measured immediately after refilling. The first protocol was outlined in 1999. It has since been revised to reflect the importance of energy consumption and the reduction of vending machines’ carbon footprint’

  • Europe-wide recognised standard for energy measurement which enhances the credibility of the vending industry.
  • Having a uniform method for measuring energy consumption allows the customer to select machines objectively.
  • Healthy competition between manufacturers in seeking low energy solutions is encouraged.
  • The protocol is voluntary but its adoption is becoming widespread.

Adoption of the EVA EMP

Vending machine manufacturers are already measuring power use using the EVA EMP protocol. and they are beginning to quote EVA EMP figures for their equipment.

Quotations, brochures and product data listing the energy figure ‘with reference to EVA EMP’ are becoming the norm.

Where vending machines have been imported from outside the EC, or the energy consumption ‘with reference to EVA EMP’ is not declared, the supplier or wholesaler can undertake the measurements himself, and publish the data
